I was raised in Asheville, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated from the Unviversity of Georgia with a BA
in Psychology in 1980.
In 1985, I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology with an
emphasis in Behavioral Medicine
and the treatment of stress related disorders from the
University of North Texas. My training included a number of
externships in Dallas, Texas and an APA approved
full-time internship at the VA Medical Center in
Dallas, Texas from 1984-1985.
I moved to Memphis, TN in 1986 and had a full-time
private practice there for 30 years.
In 2016 I moved to Boone, NC and opened a part time practice.
Though I now have a general psychology practice,
I've been specializing in the treatment of individuals
with eating and body issues since 1991, and frequently speak
on this and related topics
