I'm a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice. I have over 30 years of experience working with adolecent and adult men and women in individual psychotherapy, couples therapy, family therapy and group therapy. I've been specializing in the treatment of Eating Disorders since 1991. I use an eclectic and mindfulness based therapy approach to treat a wide range of conditions including:
- Stress related disorders
- Self-esteem, self-image and body image issues
- Relationship difficulties
- Compulsive behaviors
- Depression and anxiety
- Grief and loss
- Eating Disorders:Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Binge Eating Disorder
My Background and Clinical Training
I was raised in Asheville, North Carolina and
Atlanta, Georgia. I attended the Unviversity of Georgia in Athens, GA and earned a BA in Psychology in 1980. I earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Behavioral Medicine and the treatment of stress related disorders from the University of North Texas
in 1985. My training included a number of externships in Dallas, Texas and an APA approved full-time internship at the VA Medical Center In Dallas, Texas from 1984-1985.
I moved to Memphis, TN in 1986 and had a full-time private practice there until 2016.
I moved to Boone, NC in April, 2016.
Though I have a general psychology practice,
I've been specializing in the treatment of
men and women with eating and body issues since 1991, and frequently speak on this
